Kathy's Island Retreat Centre, Karpathos Island, Greece

4th to 11th  June 2017

'a week of yoga, mindfulness and total relaxation'

Come and spend some ThuliTime with yoga teacher and Doctor Thuli Whitehouse at the sumptuous Kathy's island retreat centre on Karpathos Island in Greece: the ultimate combination of body vitality and chilled out vibes with twice daily yoga classes and a seaside room with balcony and sea view.

Each morning class is an energising sequence designed to build strength and flexibility. Challenging you to uplevel your yoga practice with a safe, gentle and health advancing set of asana. Working to unlock tension in the neck and shoulders, build core strength and guiding you to feel what's going on inside. Afternoon class is a series of down-regulating asana combined with guided Vipassana meditation and yoga nidra to enter into a state of total relaxation. All classes are held in our yoga shala overlooking the sea.

Between classes there are optional trips to the beach or local sites of interest. Otherwise you can walk to the local secret cove or lie in a hammock. Meals are prepared by our in house chef using produce from our kitchen garden. You will be offered wine with dinner or fresh juice, tea or coffee with breakfast. This is a relaxed and friendly experience, eating under the stars and surrounded by olive trees and new friends. The sessions are suitable for all levels, beginner to advanced. This is your time to get away and get back to yourself…

'Finding Balance in a Busy Life'

Come and spend a gloriously replenishing weekend on retreat practicing yoga and mindfulness to help you move towards greater well-being. Thuli has teamed up with Dr Jenny Napier of www.contextualyse.com, coach and well-being consultant extraordinaire to bring you a perfect combination of expertise and understanding.

Our starting point in being compassionate doctors is to first care for - and be compassionate to - ourselves. We are offering a space for stepping back, recharging your batteries and learning some new skills for maintaining your balance. Our approach to developing resilience is based on building yourself up from the inside so that you are wiser in your work, more connected to your colleagues, patients, friends and family, and ultimately able to find greater satisfaction in what you do.

The Inner Guidance Retreat Centre is the perfect place to unwind. With luxurious rooms, lush surroundings and a kitchen garden from which most of the meals are prepared on site. For more details of the retreat centre follow the link below.  innerguidance.co.uk

Yoga and Mindfulness Retreat for Doctors 23-25th November 2018

This weekend is held at the Inner Guidance retreat centre in Lavenham, Suffolk; price includes all food and accommodation costs.

We offer a creative and restful space for Doctors to take time out to unwind, relax and renew. Our primary aim is enabling an attitude of awareness and self-care, something that as doctors we often neglect.

The weekend comprises yoga Asana practice, open to all levels, Mindfulness and personal development sessions as well as free time to relax, luxurious accommodation and delicious wholesome meals.

By building body connection and practicing compassion towards ourselves we better tune into our needs and make more informed decisions. These skills both enhance our personal sense of well-being and improve our ability to holistically and compassionately care for our patients.

The focus this year is to explore growth, possibility and creative visualisation; developed by focusing on the outcomes we want rather than the problems we have.

Feedback from previous years includes…

'It was a truly wonderful experience coming on retreat this weekend. I feel as if it shifted something in me'.

Yoga and Mindfulness Retreat for Doctors - 27-29th September 2019

High quality time out is something we rarely give ourselves but it can be the starting point for a balanced and more fulfilled life.

If we take some moments away from the daily rush – without the distractions of media, family drama and household chores – we can focus our attention on how and where we are.

It is here that we make better decisions and contentment lies.

This weekend is held at the Inner Guidance retreat centre in Lavenham, Suffolk.

Over the weekend we will connect body and mind with yoga practices open to all levels, calm ourselves with mindfulness and deep relaxation and nourish ourselves with wholesome food, company and surroundings.

This retreat runs from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon and includes all practices, meals, accommodation and refreshments.

‘Stepping out and tuning in’

Yoga and Mindfulness Retreat for Doctors - 18th-20th September 2020

How can we self care when we don't even find time to eat lunch without simultaneously working and when we barely even find time to visit the toilet?

How can we squeeze this supposedly essential thing into our already jam packed life?

Join us for the weekend to both consider this and engage in some strategies to help.

Step away from the daily rush and find out what the next best steps are for you - to move towards greater wellness and fulfilment.

Thuli is joined for this weekend by Emma who runs the mindfulness sessions.

‘Less is more’

Yoga and Mindfulness Retreat for Doctors - 20th-22nd January 2023

Emma and Thuli are excited to be joining forces again, having found a new retreat centre to run from.

Based in Somerset, Ammerdown is a well established and beautiful centre, with extensive grounds, a delicious menu and even a bar. Every guest will have their own room and cost is very reasonable.

‘Reconnecting’

Emma Went

Emma is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist. She has been practicing mindfulness and contemplative prayer for many years. She has extensive experience of working with people with borderline personality disorder and using mindfulness in that context, as well as her private psychotherapy practice.

For the past few years she has led the "Creative Mindfulness" session at a twice yearly Doctors retreat and this is the second year she has led mindfulness at the doctors' retreat. She lives and works in Norfolk where she enjoys mindfully interacting with the peace and beauty of her surroundings.

It’s been an extraordinary couple of years. During such turbulence it is natural to feel overwhelmed. How do we set aside time for self care and make sense of all that has happened?

Join us for a nourishing weekend of yoga and mindfulness, open to all levels, where we will consider this seeming paradox. Relax in beautiful surroundings, with comfy beds, delicious food and like-minded company.

You will leave with simple easy to apply strategies, and a sense of relaxation and spaciousness.
